Ella’s tale is one of passions: a passion for gymnastics that inspired her first involvement in Trust sessions, a passion for dance once she’d been introduced, and a passion for helping others.
It was six years ago that Ella, despite having no previous dance experience, first attended Premier League Kicks Dance having moved into the local area near the Trust hub – Meriden Community Centre. Although nervous on her first visit, staff supported Ella, and as the weeks went by her confidence grew. Ella soon started volunteering for the Trust, offering support to the younger age group. She then completed a Sports Leadership qualification and became a member of the Youth Board, where she discusses ideas to attract other young people to the centre. Ella’s support to others has even extended to fundraising for the Trust’s Taylor Trek. On her engagement with the dance sessions, Ella said:
“I love helping other people improve their skills. [The routines are fun and creative] which allow all the girls to express their emotions through the power of dance. As a group, everyone looks forward to the end-of-term show, which helps motivate us to improve each week and work together as a team. I have got to know all of the girls and we now regularly go to the shopping centre and for meals altogether.”
